Accident And Emergency Policy

It is my responsibility to keep children safe when in my care.

My premises has been checked by Ofsted and meet the requirements set in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

I will regularly practice my safety routines, including fire drills (please see fire evacuation plan).

As a registered childminder, I hold a current valid first aid certificate. I also have a fully stocked first aid kit on the premises and I can administer basic first aid treatment.

I will carry a first aid kit when on outings, along with emergency contact numbers.

I hold relevant written permission forms from parents to seek emergency treatment for their child if needed. I also have an arrangement with another registered childminder to provide back up care where needed.

If there is an accident I will: Mr Tony Lee (My partner) Tel: 07748 960418 (Tony holds a current CRB enhanced disclosure).

Back up care (registered childminder) Catherine Bricknell, Tel: 07506 779000.

If there is an accident or emergency my back up cover will require you to collect your child immediately.

If I am able to deal with the accident myself, I will contact the affected child's parent straight away to inform them of what has happened.

If I have to accompany a child to hospital I will contact the parents to meet me there. This will usually be the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

If I am involved in an accident, I will get the nearest responsible adult to help while my back up people are contacted.
